She shares how different her experiences were from a traditional birth experience.

Molly’s twin girls spent 147 days in the NICU, neonatal intensive care unit. Molly shares what it felt like to see her children for the first time and what she did to be able to navigate the NICU. She shares the importance of parents being advocates for their children and the importance of being part of the team. Molly was blessed to have her children come home at the same time.

We can get so caught up in societal stereotypes, but sometimes our story is not stereotypical.
Molly’s pregnancy was just different. Her pregnancy experience has made her stronger, and it has given her the strength and courage to feel all of her feelings.

Molly shares how she spent so much time in an emergency mode that she never truly felt the feelings from her birth experience until the girls started doing better. She had to allow herself to grieve.
Molly’s advice to any parent who has experienced a nontypical birthing experience is to permit yourself to feel. Give yourself permission to grieve and let the pain go.

To those who know people who have had children with additional medical needs, please show some empathy and be an ear for them. Molly hopes that her story gives some insight into what it feels like to have a nontypical pregnancy and birth experience.
