“Throughout our life we have adopted many beliefs that are not our own. Beliefs, such as “money does not grow on trees”, “you can’t have your cake and eat it too”, and other beliefs that say we are not good enough. Until we identify these beliefs and replace them, they continue to run in the background. They create havoc and chaos in our lives. This situation calls for reprogramming. It is time to take a look at all of the beliefs that you have that are not serving your highest good. Find a quiet space, think of the problem that you are facing, and write out all of the automatic thoughts you have related to this situation. You can find your hidden beliefs by observing your thoughts. These beliefs can change, and they will as long as you take the time to identify and replace them. When we take the time to identify and question our false beliefs, we bring them into the light and they are no longer hiding in the shadows. Once we bring them to the light, they no longer have as much power to run our lives. Today, take time out to ask the questions: What beliefs do I have that are no longer serving my highest good?” From the Intuitive Life Coaching Oracle Cards App. Download it here!
What is a negative belief?
We potentially have thousands of beliefs that make up the way we see the world around us. Some of those beliefs are positive and others might be considered negative. A negative belief is an idea that you have accepted as true that can be harmful to you. Once you accept something as true, you begin to act on it being true. You start to, either consciously or unconsciously, navigate your world around or towards that idea. An example would be a belief that, no matter how hard you try, you will never lose weight. With a belief like this you can try and try, but you will never believe that it is possible to reach your goals. It does not matter how great the program that you are participating in, your subconscious mind will sabotage you every time. The only way to change this, is to change your beliefs about your ability to lose weight.
Step 1: Identify your beliefs-
Pick one area you would like to see changes in your life. This could be related to relationships, your ability to succeed, or even your beliefs around money. Once you know what you want to work on get out a pen and paper. Ask yourself these questions. What beliefs in this area do I have that are keeping me from _____________________ and fill in the blank? You might have to change this question around to find what works for you. The general idea is to identify all of the negative beliefs in this area. As you observe your feelings around this area, begin to allow your automatic negative thoughts to come to the surface and write them down.
Step 2: Challenge your negative beliefs-
This is when your ah ha moment arrives! Did you know that the majority of your beliefs come from other people? You most likely did not choose those beliefs on your own. You may be wondering, how this could happen? How could you not have chosen your own belief system? This happens because by the age of 5 the majority of your beliefs are set in motion. You have learned or accepted these beliefs from the environment around you and the people in it. This is why you may not even be aware of some of the beliefs that are running you in the background. If one of your beliefs is money does not grow on trees, then think about where you first heard that phrase. Who said that? Was it you or your parents? Go through each one of your automatic negative beliefs and challenge them. Ask, is this true and if so, how do I know this is true? Where did this come from? Why would I think this? Do I still want this belief to govern my thoughts, feelings, and actions?
Step 3: Visualization for releasing limited beliefs
Pick one of your limited beliefs and imagine, picture, or pretend that this belief becomes an object. There is no right or wrong object. Whatever object your imagination reveals to you is the correct one. Ask your subconscious mind to bring forward all of your feelings related to this object. Now, imagine that you are placing all of your feelings into this object. Feel this object in your hand. Now, imagine you are standing at the top of a mountain. Below you is a beautiful ocean. Go ahead and drop your object in the ocean with the intention to release this belief. And so it is.
Step 4: Replacing your beliefs
What would you like to believe instead? Pick something that feels good to you. Something that you do not have resistance too. For example: Your new belief could be ” opportunities to make more money are everywhere, and I am worthy of them!”
Step 5: Anchor your new belief in place
Picture, pretend, and imagine that you are back up on the mountain. Ask for the subconscious mind to bring you a new object that represents your new belief. Imagine the ocean throwing it up to you! Catch the object and feel all of the positive feelings that go with your new belief. Allow yourself to bask in the positive energy. Now, imagine that you are placing this object into your heart center. Take in a deep breath, repeat your new belief out loud, and so it is. If you feel your new belief slipping at any time, feel free to repeat this process!
